FRAS: Cosmohills (CZ)

Theatre company FRAS has been active since the beginning of 2019. The founding members are Johana Bártová, Jakub Šulík and Matěj Šumbera. The first productions were created as part of their studies at the Department of Alternative and puppet theater of the Theater Faculty of the AMU in Prague. After graduating from DAMU, they began to function as a registered association in 2023. The production manager of the group is Alexandra Niedomanská. For a long time, FRAS has focused on puppet and object theater. It explores the experimental possibilities of this theater industry. The primary goal is the exploration of a unique theatrical language that contains elements from other artistic fields such as film or computer games. ​ In 2020 and 2022, the group was part of the New Blood on the Stage program of the New Network organization. For the performance of The Smallest of the Sámi, the group won 2nd place in the Erik prize of the 29th show Flying over the puppeteer's nest. The productions Medař and TakkTakk are part of the tour catalog of the Institute of Theater Arts Perform Czech. FRAS regularly presents productions at theater festivals both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Since 2021, he has been collaborating with the experimental space Mengi and the SÍM residency in Reykjavík, which co-produced the productions Takk Takk and Kosmokopce.
